Welcome to Soundboard Online ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application, Soundboard Online (the "App"), and our website at online-soundboard.com (the "Website"; see section 8 for what is specific to it).
By using the App or the Website, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect the following information:
- Email Address and Username: Provided by users during registration and sign-in using Firebase Authentication.
- Profile Images/Avatars: Provided by users as part of their account profile.
- Audio and Video Content: Uploaded by users to share with the global community.
- Session Click Data: Tracked to identify trends and generate monthly, daily, and all-time trending content for the app’s home page.
- Device and Usage Information: Collected via Firebase Analytics for general app performance monitoring.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
The data collected is used for the following purposes:
- Account Management: To register and authenticate users.
- Content Sharing: To store and share user-generated audio and video content.
- Feature Enhancement: To analyze user interactions and enhance app features like trend pages.
- Security and Performance Monitoring: Using Firebase services to ensure app reliability and security.
3. DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION
- All collected data is stored securely using encryption and is saved to a relational database system (RDS).
- Data is retained until the user voluntarily deletes their account or the account is removed by moderation.
- No data is sold to third parties. The only third parties that receive data are the service providers listed in sections 5 and 8.
4. USER RIGHTS
Users have the right to:
- Access their personal data.
- Edit their information and uploaded content.
- Delete their data and account at any time from within the app.
5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
We use the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Authentication and Analytics)
- AdMob: For in-app advertising. However, no data is tracked or shared for marketing purposes.
- Umami: Website analytics (see section 8).
These services may collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
6. DATA SECURITY
We use encryption and secure storage practices to protect your data from unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction.
7. AGE RESTRICTION
The App is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 16.
8. WEBSITE (ONLINE-SOUNDBOARD.COM)
Soundboard Online is also available in the browser at online-soundboard.com (the "Website"). Everything above applies to the Website as well: the same accounts, content, session click data and rights, held in the same systems. This section describes what is specific to the Website.
Website analytics
- We use Umami (umami.is), a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how the Website is used in aggregate. For each visit it records: the pages viewed and the site the visit arrived from; your browser, operating system, device type and screen size; the country the visit comes from; and product events that say a feature was used and whether it worked, such as playing a sound, searching, opening sign-in, signing in, uploading (started, finished or failed), sharing, saving or liking a collection, creating one, adding a sound to one, following an account, reporting, binding a hotkey, pairing the remote session, and opening a link to the app stores.
- Events are counts, not records of you. They never carry which sound, collection, account or search was involved, and playing is recorded at most once per page view, not once per tap.
- We do not send analytics data that identifies you: no account, email address, username, user ID, search text, or the identity of specific sounds or collections.
- Analytics requests go from your browser to the Website itself, not to Umami directly, and the Website forwards them to Umami Cloud together with your IP address. Umami uses the IP address only to determine the country of the visit and to compute a short-lived, anonymised visitor hash that changes regularly; it does not store the address, so no persistent identifier is created and no profile of you is built.
- Umami sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, which is why the Website shows no cookie banner. We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding how the Website is used.
- If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, no analytics data is collected from it.
- Analytics data is processed by Umami Software (Umami Cloud) as our service provider, in accordance with Umami's own privacy policy at umami.is.
Local storage
- The Website keeps a small amount of data in your browser's local storage so it can work: your sign-in session, your censored-mode setting, your hotkey bindings, your recent searches (kept only on your device, to suggest them again), which one-time notices you have dismissed (the app banner and the first-upload notice), and, when you are not signed in, an anonymous device token used only to record session click data for trending content. None of this is sent to Umami.
- The Website sets no advertising or third-party cookies.
9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App and on the Website, and continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
